Health Program

Health Program at CCCSA

The objective of this program is to provide social and emotional support to those living with cancer. It is our goal to make a difference to the quality of life of cancer patients and their families. As Chinese immigrant women have been recognized as an underserved minority group, the aim of this project is to increase access to information about breast health and health services, thereby increasing the ease of navigation in the mainstream healthcare system for the immigrant women population. In doing so, it is our hopes that the mortality attributed to breast cancer will be decreased and that the quality of life of those affected by breast cancer will be improved through earlier and better access to screening and treatment services.

An early diagnosis of cancer can save a life. In order to encourage screening, we have been active inhosting screening days for mammograms and clinical breast exams for early detection of breast cancer, pap tests for cervical cancer, and PSA tests for prostate cancer at various times throughout the year. The feedbacks from all the participants were overwhelming positive.

Funded by Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, CCCSA's health program and the University of Calgary co-produced the following video. By using this video, we hope to increase the capacity of women in the community to look after their breast health, especially from the psychosocial perspective. Please enable the link through activaing your facebook account.
